The ground color of J. savinkini is creamy, yellow with a light orange hue. The cerata have the same colour throughout most of their length, but apically they are covered with a broad variably colored, purplish ring and bright, opaque blue to brown apical spot. The rhinophores have similar colour pattern to the papillae. The images illustrate just how color variable this species really is. Like other Janolids it can be found on arborescent bryozoans throughout the tropical Indo-West Pacific.
